Poinsettias 101

Poinsettias are an iconic plant for the winter holidays. From Thanksgiving through the New Year, poinsettias are on display. The red is the most tradtional, but they are now able to come in a range of colors: white, cream, yellow, salmon, pink, and variations thereof. The actual blooms are a small cluster of yellow flowers surrounded by the large vibrant floral bracts (which are the leaves).

Veteran's Day Tribute

Many might not know that our family boasts a number of military members. Our brother is currently serving active duty in the Marines. My husband is a Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine!). Our dad was in the Coast Guard - a true waterman at heart. Our great-grandfather, Calvin Kendall, was in the Navy. We also have cousins that have gone into the Army.

Mother's Day Flowers

Mother’s Day is the largest floral holiday of the year and only 3 1/2 weeks away. Every mother wants to feel appreciated every day of the year, but especially on Mother’s Day. Show her just how much she means to you by sending a beautiful bouquet to her!

As a spring holiday, many of the traditionally spring flowers are big hits for Mother’s Day like tulips and hydrangeas. Sunflowers, roses, lilies, and carnations are other great choices.

Easter Flowers

This year Easter Sunday falls on April 17th. Two years since the pandemic began and still, many families won’t be able to celebrate together in person as they usually would. For all of those families, a great way to say “I wish I could be there!” would be a beautiful Easter arrangement.

There are many flowers that come to mind when you hear the word spring: daffodils, tulips, hyacinth, lilies, and iris for a few examples.
