Why do I need flowers? While it goes against my entire business, you don’t actually need flowers for your wedding. I can say that your wedding day is an extremely important celebration of two people coming together to start their lives together. I can only imagine that such an important day will be documented in photos. You will be the star, adorned with beautiful hair, makeup, and dress of your dreams! Flowers are a perfect way to accent the event. Traditional white wedding without the white roses? Garden style dinner without any flowers? The flowers for your big day give the event that perfect touch to make every bride and/or groom shine. Long story short, you need flowers to enhance the atmosphere and give you the best backdrop for the best photos! Who gets flowers?
For example, at my wedding my brother and cousin acted as ushers, so I had smaller boutonnieres for them. All of the parents and step-parents had boutonnieres or corsages to be included. You may have a godparent that’s not officially a part of the ceremony but has been a huge part of your life, so you honor them by giving them a flower. Where do you need flowers? While not a comprehensive list, this is more than enough to get your mind thinking about your vision. How important are flowers to you? If they are not that important, you may opt to only have arrangements where photos will be taken. If they are pretty important, the items in blue may fit the bill. If they are the be-all-end-all for your big day, then you may consider adding in some of the items in pink. The rest would be venue and event specific that you may want to consider when ordering your wedding flowers.
Why do seasonal flowers save money? For the most part, we are able to have flowers shipped to us from around the world. The season that we are ordering for may dictate colors, sizes, and availability. Prices may be higher out of season. Here is a list of the flowers that we get seasonally.
Out-of-season dahlias and ranunculus are very small blooms, resulting in paying more for smaller flowers. You will either end up with a smaller bouquet or arrangement than planned or need to add more flowers to fill in the gaps (higher price point). In the off-season, a few growers will choose one or two peony colors to grow a limited quantity, usually they are white or red.
